Seco Valley Ranch
Quiet, Secluded Vacation Rental

The Seco Valley Ranch consists of 1883 low-fenced acres in the Hill Country of Medina County, located 8 miles southwest of Tarpley, Texas. The terrain varies from rough and brushy limestone hills to open pasture broken by live oak motts with plenty of underbrush. The ranch is located on the Balcones Escarpment where the Edwards Plateau oak and juniper savanna, meets the South Texas Brush Country. Vegetation is a mix of species common to the two areas. Several wet-weather creeks run through the property and we provide wildlife watering sites spaced through eight pastures.

Beginning fall of 2020, contingent on COVID 19 restrictions, we will offer Vrbo cabin rental for uses of agro-tourism including a quiet retreat for writers, Plein Air painters, birdwatching, wildlife photography and housing for equestrians and off-trail hikers wanting to explore the Texas Hill Country.

Guest lodging is a rustic masonry cabin built in the 1930's. It is situated near the headquarters of our cattle ranch. The cabin is undergoing a little face-lift to be ready for visitors in the fall of 2020. The enclosed sleeping porch is divided into two bedrooms with one queen and one twin bed each. The cabin has central AC/heat, two fireplaces, a full kitchen and two bathrooms. Wifi is available, but there is no reliable cell signal. Enabling wifi calling on AT&T iPhones is the most reliable method for communicating with the outside world. The ranch is located in a dead-zone for AT&T, Sprint and only has intermittent Verizon coverage on the hill tops.

The location is secluded and quiet, conducive to relaxation and a quality rural experience.
